The Herald-Dispatch – November 18 or 19, 1970

 

Michael Francis Blake -  Michael Francis Blake, 19, of 2716 Latulle Avenue, a linebacker on the Marshall University football team, will be buried in Union Ridge Cemetery following funeral services Friday at 2 p.m. at the Highlawn United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles High officiating.  Pallbearers will be Bob Sang, Junior Burdette, Kenny McCarley, Bill Johnson, Bob Lemley, Wayne Berry and Billy Goheen.  Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, and the 1969 Huntington East High School football team.  The body will be taken to the church an hour before services.  In lieu of flowers the family suggested contributions to the Mike Blake Scholarship Fund at East High School.  Friends may call at the Beard Mortuary.  (Mike was one of the 75 victims of the November 14, 1970 plane crash taking the lives of most of  the  Marshall University football team, coaches, athletic staff, flight crew, and fans .)

Rebecca Wynne DialMiss Rebecca Wynne Dial, 28, of 1058 Cambridge Station Road, Centerville, Ohio, formerly of Huntington, died Friday, August 3, 1979 in Wichita, Kansas.  Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Tuesday at Beard Mortuary by the Reverend Jim Franklin.  Burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Park.  She was born May 18, 1951, in Huntington, a daughter of Jack W. and Eloise Dial of 3179 Sumner Avenue, Huntington.  She was a 1969 graduate of Huntington East High School and a 1972 graduate of Marshall University with a degree in journalism.  She was employed as an associate buyer at Rike’s Department Stores in Dayton, Ohio.  In 1974, Miss Dial won two first-place awards for feature writing and technical reporting in the second annual Communications Contest of the West Virginia Press Women’s Association.  Additional survivors include one sister, Barbara Dial of Huntington, and her grandmother, Lula Dial of Huntington.  Friends may call from 7 to 0 p.m. Monday at the mortuary.

            

 

The Charleston Gazette – March 28, 1986

 

Barbara Lynn Shreve Roberts - Mrs. Barbara Lynn “Barbie” Roberts, 34, of 2041 Stratford Road, South Charleston, died Thursday, March 27th in Memorial Division, CAMC, after a long illness. She was a member and former teacher of the First Presbyterian Church preschool. Surviving:  husband, Jeff; sons, Matt and Jacob, both at home; parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Shreve of Huntington; sisters, Julia Karen Dawson of Cross lanes, Patty Kay Johnson and Mindy Patrick, both of Huntington, Missy Shreve of Houston, Texas; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Harvey Shreve of Charleston. A memorial service will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday in First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Douglas Heidt and the Rev. Arnold Lovell officiating.  Burial will be in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.  Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Wilson Funeral Home, Charleston.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Ronald McDonald House.

James Robert MitchellMr. James Robert Mitchell, 40, of Huntington, WVa., died Friday, February 7, 1992, in St. Mary’s Hospital.  Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, February 9, 1992, in Chapman’s Mortuary by the Reverend Edward J. Mills III.  Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.  He was born September 28, 1951, in Huntington, a son of Robert Mitchell of Hebron, Ohio, and Lillian Kingrey Mitchell of Huntington.  He was an employee of Cummings Hardware and a former employee of Inco.  Additional survivors include his wife, Sandra K. Williams Mitchell; one daughter, Carrie Nicole Mitchell, at home; his father- and mother-in-law, Alva and Hazel Williams of Huntington; one sister, Karen Mitchell of Huntington.  Also surviving are his stepmother, Jane Mitchell of Hebron; and a host of relatives and close friends.  Pallbearers will be Rodney Clagg, Dan Flannery, Charlie Carroll, Michie Baumgarner, Dave Easter, Steve LeGrand and Danny Del Checcola.  Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Chapman’s Mortuary.

Charles Wade CliftonMr. Charles W. Clifton, 43, of Huntington, W.Va., died Tuesday, November 10, 1992, at St. Mary’s Hospital.  Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary by the Reverend Keith Creasy.  Burial will be in Woodmere Memorial Park.  He was born September 18, 1949, at Jeffersonville, Indiana, a son of Charles and Mary Stroud Clifton of Huntington.  He was a retired inspector for West Virginia State Hospitals.  Additional survivors include paternal grandmother, Ethel Clifton of Huntington; maternal grandmother, Othella Cole of Birmingham, Alabama; a brother, Kelly S. Clifton of Clearwater, Florida; and uncle, Thomas F. Stroud of Birmingham, Alabama; a special friend, Marsha; and two aunts and several cousins.  Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Heart Association.  Friends may call from 1:30 p.m. until the service Friday at Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary.

Gregory Dale HinermanGregory Dale Hinerman, 50, of Huntington, husband of Cheryl McAllister Hinerman died Monday, March 18,  in St. Mary’s Hospital.  Also surviving are his parents, Jack E. Hinerman and Lois Dorsey Hinerman of Highland Springs, Va.; one daughter, Brook Hinerman; and one son

Gabriel A. Hinerman, both of Huntington; one sister, Amy Christopher of Richmond, Va; and two brothers, Keith Hinerman of Highland Springs and Marc Hinerman of Mechanicsville, Va.  Funeral 2 p.m. Thursday at Beard Mortuary, Huntington; burial in Spring Hill Cemetery, Huntington.  Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

David Joseph BeterDavid J. Beter, 53, of Huntington passed away Friday, May 23, 2003, in Cabell-Huntington Hospital.  He was born December 28, 1949, in Huntington, a son of Joe Beter of Huntington and the late Jean Henderson Beter.  David is survived by his wife, Teresa Whitley Beter, one loving son, Kenny W. Beter, one loving daughter, Racheal M. Beter; one sister and brother-in-law, Debra and Dan Egnor; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Fran and Lee Whitley; two sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Deborah and Timothy Lauffer and Kurt and Laurie Whitley, all of Hendersonville, N.C.; several nieces and nephews; and many cousins, aunts, uncles and loving friends.  David was a former employee of Conners Steel and Bayou Steel in Louisiana.  Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, May 26, 2003, at Hall Funeral Home by Pastor Jack Rankin of Windsor Methodist Church, of which David was a member.  Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, May 25, 2003, at Hall Funeral Home, 625 State Route 775, Proctorville.  Entombment will be in Rome Cemetery Mausoleum, Proctorville.  David fought a long and courageous battle and is now at peace with God.  The family will appreciate contributions to the Tri State Transplant Support Group, 5467 Shawnee Drive, Huntington, WV 25705 in his memory.

Rebecca Sue “Becky” Jones Hopkins - Rebecca S. “Becky” Jones Hopkins, 52, of Dunedin, FL, wife of H. Mikel Hopkins, D.D.S., passed away at home February 21, 2004.  She was a homemaker.  She is also survived by her daughter, Amy Rexroat of Cape Coral, FL; her son, Christopher Hopkins of Dunedin; her father, William T. Jones of Huntington, WV; her sister, JoAnne Jordan of Brunswick, MD; her brother, Bill Jones of Atlanta; and one grandchild, Evan Rexroat of Cape Coral.  A memorial service will be held 4 p.m. Friday, February 27, 2004 at FreshStart Community Church of Tampa, FL

Stephen David Feinberg -  Services for Stephen Feinberg, age 53, of Winter Park, FL who passed away Monday will be held Wednesday, August 10th, 2 PM at Congregation of Reform Judaism, 928 Malone Drive, Orlando, FL.  Steve was born in Huntington, WV and went to the University of Virginia for his BA and the University of Florida, School of Law for his JD.  For nearly 30 years, Steve has been a highly respected Real Estate Attorney in Central Florida and a shareholder in Greenbert Trauring P.A. here in Orlando.  Even though his charitable endeavors are many he is most known for being the past President, The Temple in Winter Park, Jewish Federation Executive Board Member and on the Hebrew Day School Executive Board as well as past President of Hospice of Central Florida and a Board Member of the Center for Drug Free Living.  Steve is survived by his loving wife Leslie; beloved father of Matthew Allen, Daniel and Scott Feinberg; and devoted son of Eve.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to either the Congregation of Reform Judaism or the fund in Steve’s honor for the Cross Country team at Winter Park High School.  Services entrusted Beth Shalom Memorial Chapel, 640 Lee Road, Orlando, FL.

Patricia Ann Bias Taylor - Patricia Ann Taylor, 57, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away Thursday, December 18, 2008 in the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, W.Va.  Funeral services will be conducted 12:30 Saturday, December 20, 2008 at Chapman’s Mortuary, Huntington, with Dr. Gary L. Patton officiating.  Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, Huntington.  She was born April 4, 1951, in Huntington, a daughter of the late Walter and Marlene Patrick Bias.  She was a 1969 graduate of Huntington East High School and a homemaker.  Survivors include her husband Chuck Taylor of Mooresville, N.C.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Jennifer Ann and Danny Joe Hammond of Mendota, Va., Jodi Ellen Haas of Barboursville, W.Va.; a sister Sally Wallace of Pickaway, W.Va.; and six grandchildren.  Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, 3100 Staunton Rd., Huntington, WV 25702.
